About

BA (Hons) politics with sociology at Brookes
MA International Studies (Citizenship and Global Justice) at Brookes

I held a position as postgraduate research assistant on a C-SAP project looking at the internationalisation of social science curricula. I am currently the principal lecturer on a foundation International Relations summer course at Brookes. Both these opportunities have made me want to pursue research and teaching further.

My PhD will focus on the mix of, and relationship between, citizenship and welfare frameworks in the UK and France, and their effect on levels of cohesion (lets leave 'community'/'social' out of it for now...), with the aim being to ascertain whether or not there is tension between the frameworks that produces further tensions between groups and/or individuals. It will be tied closely to discourses on capitalism and contemporary political theory (for example, the role of capitalism in the global political economy, and the onset, spread and effect of neo-liberalism)

Other than that I like long walks on the beach, reading (academic articles, of course), playing my guitars, watching and playing rugby. I also train in Shotokan Karate (1st kyu) and would love to take up Gaelic football if/when I get the chance.
