About
Nadia Sorokina came back to Oxford Brookes in 2007 after studying for an MSc in International Travel and Tourism Management. Her research thesis is entitled “Creating shared meaning in sustainable tourism: the use of semiotics”. She is in the second year of her full time MPhil/PhD and will be submitting her transfer papers in September 2009. Her Director of Studies is David Bowie, her second supervisor is Dr David Bowen and her third supervisor is Dr Rebecca Hawkins. So far Nadia is in the process of writing the theoretical chapters of the thesis, in preparation for the pilot study of her research. She aims to look at the possibility of application of Continental school of semiotics to the language and definition of “sustainable tourism”, by analyzing the stakeholders’ data available online. It is hoped that she will complete her PhD by September 2010, and Nadia plans to take up an academic position.
Nadia has contributed to module 54042 Methods of Enquiry and has presented her research literature review at the 4th International Conference on Services Management.
